Hannah Kehn
New Visions Charter High School for the Humanities IV Founding and Current Principal
Queens, New York
Hannah founded New Visions Charter High School for the Humanities IV in 2017 with New Visions for Public Schools. In 2021, "HUM IV" was one of fifty high schools in New York State to pilot awarding students a "Seal of Civics". Students can earn this seal on their diploma if they demonstrate enough civic knowledge and skills via strategic experiences throughout high school. This special honor can count as a testing requirement to graduate and is a notable step in furthering democratic education, equity, and post-secondary readiness in NYC and beyond. Hannah earned her School Leadership degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education where she studied school design. Aside from serving as a School Leader in K-12 traditional public and charter schools, she has served as a Catapult Fellow in Denver and as the first Implementation Coordinator for the Turnaround Arts Initiative started by the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities (a White House advisory committee on cultural issues, under the leadership of former First Lady Michelle Obama).
