Ana Tavares
Boston Public Schools Deputy Superintendent of Family and Community Advancement
Dr. Tavares currently serves as an Elementary School Superintendent for Boston Public Schools. She previously served as a principal of the Rafael Hernández PreK-8 Dual Language School in Roxbury. Her leadership experience spans over 20 years and has focused on increasing the learning opportunities for students of color through their linguistic and cultural assets, partnering with families to provide access to high-quality public education for all students. Dr. Tavares has an undergraduate degree from Bryn Mawr College, a master’s degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a doctorate in Education from Boston College. Dr. Tavares and her husband, Dr. Fidencio Saldaña, have three school-aged children and reside in Roslindale.
